Greenfield Center is located in Saratoga County, it is a rural community in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains.
It was formed in 1793 and has grown to a population of about 7,400.
Greenfield enjoys the distinction of being the Largest Township in Saratoga County. It alsoconsists of the Towns of Middle Grove and Porter Corners.
It's popularity started to grow by 1842 when Mount Pleasant Glass Factory chose a wilderness site above Lake Desolation and began the task of moving the operation there from Mount Vernon in Central NY.
By 1857 the factory and town was up and running and the following article describes the operation. " The glass is blown into pint and quart bottles, all of which are purchased by one firm in Saratoga and used in bottling the celebrated medicinal waters for which that place is so famous"
The Glass Factory and community continued to thrive for about 25 years but then the contract with Saratoga Bottling Works expired and 2 Companies in Saratoga merged and the new company was interested in building a new glass factory on the outskirts of Saratoga.
Greenfield Center has beautiful mountains and bodies of water. Lake Desolation in Middle Grove is a wonderful retreat for those looking for peacefulness of the outdoors with many activities available. Tinney's Tavern on Lake Desolation is a popular hot spot in Summer or Winter!!! The Town of Greenfield is also the home to Brookhaven Golf Course and Fierro's Pizza. Many tourists visit as the close proximity to Saratoga Springs.
The Greenfield Historical Society also hosts a Farmer's Market on Friday's during the Summer months. Enjoy many vendors, Food Tents and Live Music!
