Corinth known as the “Gateway to the Adirondacks” was originally established in 1818, with a total area of 58.1 square miles. In 1886 the town of Corinth decided to establish the Village of Corinth separating the outskirts of the town. In 1875 the town population was approximately 1,659 and has since quickly grown to over 6,500 residents.

Corinth started to grow quickly when the Hudson River Pulp & Paper Company started to produce paper from pulp in approximately 1870 which was a revolutionary method during this time.

The “Hudson River Mill” was the flagship of the International Paper Company which was founded in 1898 and had employed over 1,500 workers at a time. The mill and other small businesses created a thriving community. International Paper Company was well known for the production of coated paper, they closed their doors in 2002.

Every year the town of Corinth has an annual Independence Day celebration which is celebrated across the town. After a day of food, face painting, balloon art and many activities for the child, you can end your day with a water ski show on the Hudson River with an immediate following of FIREWORKS!

The Independence Day celebration helps with funding the annual Hometown Christmas celebration. These annual full day events show all who attend what a small town community is all about.
